Twenty Four Marathon
I’m sure this has been done before, but who cares. Now we’re doing it and it’s going to rock!! Beginning 6pm we head up to Lincoln and hit play on the first of six discs. Amazing I know but we only conceived the idea a few days previous, got the whole deal arranged and now it’s actually happening! Okay, don’t want to jinx it. First on the checklist of items to take is the laptop of course, plus the large external speakers and subwoofer to make the entire building rumble (fortunately the university is closed for the holidays and there will be literally nobody there but us).
What else? Well we wouldn’t want to forget the DVDs now would we… but which season to watch? Well Si and I both watched number Four on TV, which was about two years ago, and we both agree that it simply rocks, so that’s high up on the list. However Gem has never seen 24. Unbelievable I know, especially considering she is a big fan of CSI, but does this affect the decision? Do we really need to watch from the beginning? So many questions, so little time, argh!
As for food and drink we definately need to shop on the way. Little nibbly snacks are the greatest! Pringles, they’re good, as are Doritos, various crisps, nuts, sweets and other salty treats such as pretzels. With all this salt being consumed it’s pretty obvious we need drink… But what quenches thirst best? Coke? Maybe lemonade or other fizzy drinks? Of course there is always beer slash lager, and this brings up yet more hard decisions. Bottles? Cans? See, normally, bottles would win absolutely hands-down, no arguments, end of. But cans are usually cheaper, so you can get more liquid for your cash. Is the loss in taste worth it though? Literally, drinking from bottles you can carry on until you collapse (not that drinking like that is big or clever), whereas cans are just that little bit harder to drink from. That kind of metallic edge, I don’t know the scientific explanation.
Maybe using glasses is the answer? However this introduces the problem of spillage and breakage. Both very bad ‘-ages’ avoided with bottles. No really, have you ever broken a bottle at a party? Didn’t think so. Unless you tried to juggle them or something completely nuts like that… ironically though that is exactly the kind of nutty behaviour that occurs when drinking from bottles. Just.. can’t… stop..!!
