My Blog and Google
So how’s it going? Well I have seen an increase in the number of visits from Google, and most of the visitors are new ones, which is interesting. Does tha tmean people are not returning? Not sure what Google Analytics classes as a new user, have to look into it. Anyhow it is still amazing that a site like this, now only a month old and with a handful of posts (all of the utmost quality though, of course…) can be getting visits from google. And the site appears number one, from over seven million, in a query for ‘benjamin allen’.
Following that however are some interesting sites. First off, rather than the expected benjaminallen.com is allenbenjamin.com. Not sure why, because the site itself seems pretty bland, with most of the text being held in picture files… Well, whatever the designer thinks best. Next down the list is an alarming one. Another Benjamin Allen has created a Bebo profile for himself showing he is uncannily similar to me with his taste in music, but pretty much everything else is way off, so I’m pretty sure it wasn’t actually a long lost profile I created years ago. What’s further down? Not much to be honest. There’s the usual Wikipedia entry, detailing the life of presumably the most well known Benjamin Allen, apparently an administrator with Iowa State University. Although he can’t be that important because his page is only two lines long… Below this is benjaminallen1.com (snappy name) belonging to another Benjamin Allen, who likes the dance. There are some wierd people out there using my name. He’s even got a blog, and has the cheek to call it ‘Benjamin Allen’s Blog’! How dare he, this is my blog! I’m outraged! Meh, it’ll pass.
Moving along to page two we find the Forbes people page for Dr. Benjamin J Allen. Yes, that is my middle initial too, this is scary. I’m a 59 year old doctor in America now, as well as a dancer and choreographer. I’m so multi talented that I just can’t hide it. Even further down is an Amazon buyer profile, again, for a different Benjamin Allen, one who’s only immediately visible achievement is reviewing a racy film. After this the results just start breaking up in typical Google fashion and I got bored. Also slightly creeped out with just how many Benjamin Allens there are, let alone how many Benjamin J Allens.
Lets hope I stay at the top of the list, and attract lots of visitors, as I am the one true Benjamin Allen. I’m sure all the others are just cheap impersonations, no one can match my all round great website.
