Games Room, Details
As you can see we really are starting from scratch. When the pool table was purchased we slung it into this room, and converted it into the games room. Unfortunately there was a lot of junk in here, and some of it had to stay. Now although the drum set looks good, it does take up a lot of room and will probably have to go now, mainly because we are re-aligning the pool table to run perpendicular to the doorway. I hear it enhances the psychic kharma in the room… or it makes it easier to take shots from the far corner pocket… one of the two, choose whichever explanation you like.
Do you like the home-built car seats? Well I love them, and they’re suprisingly comfortable so they are definately staying, as is the cue stand. They will be moved however, probably to in front on the chimney breast, as pictured below. Fortunately with them being quite close to the ground the chairs shouldn’t intefere with gameplay.
The focal point of the chimney breast is currently this amazing circle of CDs, painstakingly glued to a round peice of ply and wall mounted. Now again, this is very nice, but we do want to decorate the room with various posters, hopefully sharing a common theme (maybe, pool? or movies? or drinks? any thoughts?), and this wall space would be perfect for a gigantic bus shelter size poster so it may be moved, or completely gone, in the finished product. The television pictured may also be gone, or at least mounted on the wall somewhere else, as it is rather dangerous playing darts at the moment…
Here we see the current ‘bar’… or box of cans, balanced on a mini fridge as I like to call it. Clearly something had to be done, and this is basically where the idea spawned. Well, this and the fact that James managed to spill what was practically an entire can, all over the fridge and onto the carpet whilst not paying attention… but mainly the fridge situation. Once we have a bar, he can spill away, as long as he gets the cloth. The fat lazy chair will also stay, and be re-positioned to where the car seats were, because this corner, behind the doorway, is where the bar is going to be fitted. Coming out from the wall and around in an ‘L’. For added realism we also hope to make the shorter stick of the ‘L’ into a flip up bar entrance, but this could take a little more of our budget than we can at this very moment so may be postponed.
Okay, this was taken purely because I thought it looked nice. And I wanted to say ‘…look how shiny my balls are… in fact I think I will go and polish them right now…’ on the blog. Yes, I’m that sad that I would hate my readers to go away thinking I can’t take a nice photograph, and ruin it with a bad joke… sigh.
