Okay, I have been monumentally lazy in posting even after regaining control of my domain, and I’m going to chalk it down to not having a strict schedule. So, from now on, I will post every other day. I have no idea what I will post but I will post something, and try to make it entertaining or informative. Or both, if it’s a good day. So look forward to me failing to post on the 3rd then! Thanks guys!

Jesus, I’m soo sorry. My crappy domain registrar (no, not DreamHost, unfortunately they don’t manage .co.uk domains) decided to axe me without so much as a freakin goodbye email. Thanks for that, jerks!
So it’s taken me three weeks of frantic emails back and forth with several registrars to get my domain back and get it registered and the DNS details corrected and all that jazz. So I can only apologise. And pray that it never happens again or people may well die.
Anyhoo, normal service has been resumed as soon as possible. And I mean it, now I got the blog back I had a quick check down the last posts, and I was amazed at how lax I was in posting. Not any more however! I have decided to put a lot more effort into the whole blogging thing, and hopefully ask for some help from my partner (yes, I said partner) Rich for some help. Maybe we can turn this into some kind of diary type thing. I dunno, I’m riffing all this off the top of my head at half eleven in the evening. If you think any of this is a good idea, let me know! Leave a comment, please!

Yes, so I took a week off, big deal. If you were wondering what I did, well I can fill you in. Basically, I did nothing. And I mean, nothing. Bugger all. And it was gooo-ood! But now I have to return to the regular life of doing, well stuff and thus, posting will continue on the site. Fun times!
Not got much to report at the moment, other than the obvious of course, that you must now address me as Mr. Allen. After all, I am the Director of my own company, and that’s how we Director’s prefer to be spoken to. You agree, right Rich? Sorry, Mr. Harley?
Lots of work will need to be done on this venture, so you will have to bear with my updates on this site. I know you will though, you’re just that great!!

Wow, it has been too long since I posted, and I’m still getting a regular dosage of search engine traffic etc. Amazing, I’ll have to look into that, and see if it’s not all just me checking the ads etc. Or checking that my hosting account is still active. Or maybe, if the hosting company has over charged me by $240. Sound silly? Not really. In fact it was actually a $7.5 million fuck up. Seriously.
But it’s cool, I got a phone call from my credit card company asking if this was in fact a legitimate charge (before I knew what was going on mind, it was about 9AM, I was barely alive) to which I replied ‘Sure, why not’. Oops. But never fear, Dreamhost have already charged the money back to my card, no harm done.
Still pretty awesome watching this thing unfold over the day though. For example, as I read about the incident this morning there were 400 comments to the status website, now there are over 1000…. Cool. Most of them bitching about being charged over fees because they’re either broke, or bouncing off their credit limit. Meh, whatever. If your bank doesn’t refund you once you explain (in fact, I’d be surprised if they even charged you in such a short time period) then you should seriously consider switching banks.
I chucked in my two cents of course (American company) under the imaginative pseudonym of ‘Ben’ so you can check it out over on those two sites if you like. I get told to fuck off by another customer, who was sadly born without a sense of humour. It’s good shit ![]()

Argh! I think I may just give up…. ha! Got ya! Only kidding =)
Although syndicating my blogger feed (the only place I can directly post photographs from my phone to) into this, my proper blog, is proving to be very troublesome indeed. In fact, I would say it’s being an absolute bitch right now. Every plugin I have tried keeps replicating every post, which is ridiculous, and means I end up with a whole gaggle of freakin blog posts, which are all the same. In case you didn’t realise that’s not a good thing.
So I will continue with the search for a suitable solution, but for now you will simply have to make do with visiting http://benjaminallenlifeontheroad.blogspot.com/ too, if you want to see the many odd things I see during my day. Sorry!

Yes, there are some bugs, and some annoyances… for example, you have to click the title of the post, which takes you to Blogger.com, only then you can view the picture. Which blows. I’m sorry, but the dumb ass syndication plugin I was using just kept repeating every post again and again, so I had to change, and now this one won’t import the images correctly, just the title. However it does recreate the photo’s time and date stamp correctly. Which would be great if you weren’t going to the original to see it. Anyway…… let me just say that I am working on it, so be patient.
Oh, and it’s assigning the author of the post to be ‘admin’ which makes no sense. Apologies for that too, it really is me… honest.

So, I figured out what I shall start in the coming weeks. And boy will this rock. Trust me on this.
I do a lot of walking around everyday, and I wanted something that could make my endless adventures just a little more fun. So I thought I should start up my new Mobile Blogger account, and begin sending photographs that I take on the road straight to it. This means I no longer have the boring delay and hard work of getting the pictures from my phone to the Internet! Awesome!
Obviously the images are not as high quality as the ones I upload myself, but I will probably work out some way of people getting the full size pictures, as they will still be on my phone. But that’s for the future, right now just enjoy the stream of photos I will be bringing to my blog.

Yes, you heard me correctly (although we may change the name) the inaugural episode of the Some Crazy Podcast will be recorded tomorrow evening (GMT) and hopefully posted to this very space that night, maybe Friday morning. Depending on editing difficulties etc. Please bear in mind this will be the first time any of us have tried this, and the very first time I will have done any kind of audio work using a Windows computer. If it is an absolute disaster then I may just have to borrow a Mac from one of the labs at University for a few hours to edit this thing into shape.
Of course that is if a lot needs editing, I really have no idea. All I know for sure is that having recorded a few minutes of us talking, my voice seems very, very low and boomy, and everyone else sounds great. Damn it! I thought I did well buying a nice mic, but obviously not. I will probably shoot out and get a desktop microphone tomorrow, to see how that acts, but otherwise all is good. I don’t sound terrible, thus I’ll do.
So, having left you with that tidbit, I will head off for the night, and see you all tomorrow. Good times!

Well to kick off this new month, as well as the brand new theme and styling, I will be posting every single day. You heard me, there will be at least one new post here, every day. Even if it’s just a photograph, I will maintain that regime until the end of the month. Then I hope to share with you the results. Obviously I am hoping traffic will increase, but I am also hoping to attract new visitors and keep them coming back, as this is what will boost the popularity of my blog in the long run. Who knows, I may carry on with the frantic posting indefinately…
See something you like? Share it with your friends! Send them along too, there’s fun for everyone. Better yet, leave a comment, or write a response on your own blog. I welcome your criticism! Oh, but before you get all critical on my ass over this post, don’t panic, there will be a real post later, probably a photograph. I’ve been saving up a few goodies for you guys. Hope you enjoy!

Woah, hold on here! What’s happening? I don’t like change damn it, what are you doing?!?
Yes, yes, I know some of you may just have passed out (hopefully falling out of your chair in the process) but you really need to relax for a minute. First off, yes, this is a new look. Second, depending on when you read this, it is still under development. You heard me right, I am customising this theme some what to suit my needs. Basically I will be streamlining the posts into five or six broad categories, rather than the mess it is in at the moment (just see the categories list to the right if you don’t believe me).
After this, I will go through and correctly tag old posts with as much detail as possible, so I can retain an accurate search funtion, but keep them categorised broadly. This will enable you to dial out the various things that you are not interested in, and keep what you want to see, by selecting a main category from the top bar of the page. Hooray! Should be good, or at least, it is good in my head… If I can transfer that to the digital paper upon which I write this, then I’m laughing all the way to the… umm… bank?
Then I will introduce various other tweaks and modifications to this theme, that I hope will keep you coming back! These include a new advertising partner, new posting strategies and a myriad of other, more secretive goings on, that I can only divulge to my closest acquaintances. So not you!

Well, whilst bored at university if you must know, I figured I’d take a look through my Google Analytics profile and check what was happening on my site. Right, lots of hits and visits etc, but the most important part in my opinion? The keywords used to find my site. Now, I’m no expert but I thought these all had to be on my page, but some of them clearly are not, so some day I may work out how that works, but until then I will leave them shrouded in mystery. Wow, lot’s of commas in there, probably too many, but oh well…. like I’m going to proof read.

No, I’m not referring to the infinitely tedious subject of electromagnetic radiation (this time) but instead asking a question. Well, a rhetorical question anyway. How often is the ideal period to leave between posts? In other words, how often should I update benjaminallen?

Where do I blog? Well, seen as you asked, I will tell you. I blog anywhere. Literally anywhere. I have my laptop with me at all times so it’s relatively easy to get a quick post fired off in a few minutes down time during my busy (yeh right) schedule, and this means I don’t have to dedicate true ‘time’, as such, from my day. However there are times when I like to spend time doing nothing but thinking and for these times I need to find somewhere suited to that deep peace I find so hard to accomplish in my manic lifestyle. It is for that reason that I come to you now from my car. Yes, blogging from my car means I can be anywhere I please, anywhere I can find quiet. Anywhere I can get away from MSN, my phone, the TV, and to put it bluntly, other people. Distractions. Now this may seem to run against what I blog about, mainly other people and their stupidity, and to a certain extent this is true. However I think it is also important to blog about other things. These could be anything, but really it just means I want to blog about things in my mind. In my soul, if you believe in such nonsense. Hmm, deep.

Yes, I am about to uncover the latest in my long line of ‘doomed-from-the-start’ projects, just for you, my loyal reader. This one almost has a client too, albeit a very close one, my mother… The upshot of which is, I may have to get on a finish this site. Unlike my many other startups this one could go some where, as it was someone else’s idea.

After installing the Alexa toolbar in my browser I must say that I am amazed at how benjaminallen.co.uk has grown in the last month. Starting in a lowly four millionth place about a month ago, it has recently risen into the top one million websites on the net, and even more impressively, into the top twenty thousand in the United Kingdom. Yep, that’s correct this is currently (09 September) ranked as the 19,155th most visited website in the UK. Cool.
